What We’re About
Roll Out The Ribbons is a cancer awareness campaign brought to you by Monmouth Medical Center, a Barnabas Health facility located in Long Branch, New Jersey. Many people are familiar with cancer awareness ribbons, such as the pink ribbon, which represents the important fight against breast cancer. What you may not know is that there is a colored ribbon to represent the fight against nearly every type of cancer. The Roll Out The Ribbons campaign is unique in that it pulls together all these cancer-specific ribbons to highlight the need to raise awareness to fight EVERY CANCER in EVERY COMMUNITY.
The promenade of hope blossoms into the
garden of hope
The launch of Roll Out The Ribbons this summer at the Promenade in Long Branch was an overwhelming success, and we thank everyone who submitted a ribbon, made a donation, helped us with fundraising or volunteered at one of our many awareness-raising events. Now that the colder weather is upon us, we will soon be moving the location indoors, so that people can continue to honor those who have fought or are fighting cancer. The new Roll Out The Ribbons display is located in the Monmouth Mall, at the upper level atrium near JCPenney, and with a new name: The Garden of Hope.
The Garden of Hope is a display that, like the Promenade of Hope, provides a beautiful and inspirational visual reminder of the fight against all cancers, and a place where mall visitors can reflect and hope for a future without cancer. The focal point of the Garden of Hope is a large ribbon sculpture on which Ribbons of Honor will continue to be tied.
The Ribbons of Honor that were tied to the Promenade this summer have been carefully removed and are now tied to The Garden of Hope sculpture. We will continue to collect new ribbons submissions and add ribbons to the Garden of Hope sculpture through the end of December. Ribbon submissions may now be submitted several ways: Visit the Garden of Hope in the Monmouth Mall and submit your ribbon using the iPad kiosk, or submit your Ribbon of Honor by sending your message via text to 84444.* You may also submit your Ribbon right here on this website, or visit one of more than 100 Monmouth Mall retailers and submit your Ribbon message on a paper ballot located at the register of each participating business.
*To leave your personal dedication message to be transcribed and placed on a ribbon:
Submit a Ribbon of Honor
Show your support by dedicating a Ribbon of Honor to someone you love who has been affected by cancer. For example, you can customize your Ribbon with a personalized message, such as “In Memory of Mom, You Are In Our Hearts Forever” or choose a message of overarching support and hope, such as “The Smith Family Celebrates Cancer Survivors.” Each Ribbon of Honor will be tied to The Garden of Hope sculpture located in the Monmouth Mall, at the upper level atrium near JCPenney.
Ways to Show Your Support
There are many ways for individuals, businesses, sports teams and organizations to show their support and help us Roll Out The Ribbons. From volunteering, fundraising and special event participation to just spreading the word, we hope you will join us!
