What We’re About

Roll Out The Ribbons is a cancer awareness campaign brought to you by Monmouth Medical Center, a Barnabas Health facility located in Long Branch, New Jersey. Many people are familiar with cancer awareness ribbons, such as the pink ribbon, which represents the important fight against breast cancer. What you may not know is that there is a colored ribbon to represent the fight against nearly every type of cancer. The Roll Out The Ribbons campaign is unique in that it pulls together all these cancer-specific ribbons to highlight the need to raise awareness to fight EVERY CANCER in EVERY COMMUNITY.

A Successful Year of Rolling Out The Ribbons

The launch of Roll Out The Ribbons last summer was an overwhelming success, and we thank everyone who submitted a ribbon, made a donation, helped us with fund-raising or volunteered at one of our many awareness-raising events.

The Garden of Hope is a display that, like the Promenade of Hope, provides a beautiful and inspirational visual reminder of the fight against all cancers, and a place where mall visitors can reflect and hope for a future without cancer. The focal point of the Garden of Hope is a large ribbon sculpture on which ribbons of honor will continue to be tied.

As the colder weather came upon us, we moved the original Promenade of Hope launch location — a half-mile stretch of railing along the Long Branch boardwalk, which featured thousands of colorful, personalized ribbons — indoors to the Monmouth Mall. This new cold-weather location merited a new inspirational visual reminder of the fight against all cancers: The Garden of Hope. The Garden of Hope, like the Promenade of Hope, was designed to provide a beautiful place for visitors to reflect and hope for a future without cancer. The focal point of the Garden of Hope was a large ribbon sculpture on which more than 2,000 Ribbons of Honor were tied.

With spring around the corner, Monmouth Medical Center plans to return to the Long Branch beachfront for a Health Fair in advance of the 2014 return of Roll Out The Ribbons. The special event, which will be held in May at Pier Village, is designed to serve as a thanks to the community for its incredible support of the first campaign. The celebration will feature a host of health screenings, entertainment, dance instruction, refreshments and giveaways.

In anticipation of the second annual Roll Out The Ribbons Oceanfest event in Long Branch, we continue to collect new ribbon submissions. Every Ribbon of Honor will be tied to the Promenade of Hope along the Long Branch boardwalk this summer. All ribbons will be displayed during and after this re-launch of the Promenade of Hope.

Submit a Ribbon of Honor

Show your support by dedicating a Ribbon of Honor to someone you love who has been affected by cancer. For example, you can customize your Ribbon with a personalized message, such as “In Memory of Mom, You Are In Our Hearts Forever” or choose a message of overarching support and hope, such as “The Smith Family Celebrates Cancer Survivors.”

Visit the Submit A Ribbon page right here on this website.
